Jesus Mercy

God's Justice is Mercy!

I agree with someone who said something like heaven is protected by the gates of hell. The jist of that seeming oxymoron is that just before we ALL enter heaven we have to take our shoes off at the door. We have to shake off the dirt of the world. We have to do a last minute clean up before entering into that glorious state most often called heaven. So, think it not strange that I also believe that MERCY is in fact God's JUDGMENT!

What am I saying here? Slow down, relax, and read with as little bias as you can muster.

God's not looking to nail us for every little thing we do, not any biggies. The world will dish out enough punishment. And then there's this karma thing too. Yes, the Old Testament of stories about a God who's quick to punish, is harsh in his dealings with mankind, and exacts fearful retribution upon those who violate his statutes. But even in the Old Testament, one can get glimpses of the true God: not just the God of Israel.

Ps. 103:17 says that his mercy is everlasting and that's a long time.
Ps. 40:6-8 says God really doesn't require sacrifices and offerings for sin.

One can read Isaiah 30:18 from two different angles. I choose the interpretaion that says MERCY is the judgment of God and thus my title to this commentary.

Of course the New Testament does a far better job of communicating the MERCY principle because of the life of Jesus. James puts an exclamation mark on the principle when he writes MERCY triumphs over JUDGMENT. How else are we to read this other than to say that to God justice isn't a fall back plan if love doesn't seal the deal. Justice isn't plan B. God only has plan A!

Mercy is another word for how God see His creation.

God doesn't see our sin nature, why do we? Judgment can only be a short term fix, but it can never transform us- only LOVE can do that. We've got to get delivered from our concept of justice, believing it's the same concept of justice that God has. Have you not read that God's thoughts are not his thoughts? That in itself surely tells us were skating on thin ice to equate our idea of judgment with Gods.

God is love and he see through and past my sins into the eternal true being, son of God, that I am and that you are. Why fight it? LIVE as a joint-heir with Jesus that we are!
